The Friends of P-TECH work with leaders interested in creating and/or replicating successful school models and/or turning around low-performing schools Pk-12, which includes implementing existing models and/or frameworks with fidelity.  The non-profit was created by educators to collaborate with educators.  Some of the school models are listed below.

School Models and Descriptions

P-TECH

A school where students earn a high school diploma, an industry-recognized associate degree, and gain relevant work experience in a growing field.

Early College High Schools (ECHS)

High School that partners with a local college to give students an opportunity to earn 60+ college credits and up to an Associate’s Degree.

Visual and Performing Arts Schools

A school and/or feeder pattern that integrates the visual and performing arts with coherence utilizing research based-best practices.

 

Montessori Schools

A child-centered method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play.

 

Single-Gender Schools

A school that is either all male or all female that provides a challenging academic environment with a focus on college readiness, character, and leadership.

 

Art Tech/Arts Academy

A school with a specific focus and offerings of performing arts in areas of music, dance, theatre, digital arts, etc.

 

CTE Hub

Career Technical Education provides students with both academic and technical skills that provide knowledge and training for high-skill, high-demand careers.

 

STEM

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) schools integrate the four subject into a cohesive, project centered approach based on real-world applications.

 

Aviation School

A school with a specific focus on the filed of aviation, which could integrate college credits, certificates, or trade programs.

 

TAG School

A Talented and Gifted school typically has an academic admission requirement and is focused on advanced and or honors courses.

 

Leadership Academy (Military)

Military schools offer structure, discipline, and typically prepares students for a career in serving one of the main military branches of the government.

 

Virtual School 

A virtual school is one that typically has a remote instructor or online education that is offered to students. Most or all courses are online.
